Hey guys,

I noticed that sealed Redemprion sets from 1996-97 are nowhere to be seen, whereas 1995-96 and 1997-98 sets are fairly common on ebay or google images.

Can anyone give me an explanation as to why?

Also, has anyone here noticed that the Redemption cards from 1996-97 come in two silver and two gold versions? (Silver is either basic silver or holofoil silver, and gold is eaither basic gold or sparkly gold). Does anyone know why?

The Swepstakes say that you will receive a complete 30 card Redemption Set in the years 1995/96 and 1997/98. In 1996/97 the text says: "We 'll send you back a hot new high quality card of the winning player". So (regarding to the text on the back of the cards) no complete redemption sets were send out in 1996/97, therefore you will not find any sets on the market

I do not know, why there are different versions for silver and gold. May be differences between series 1 and 2?

Thanks for the clarification, this makes complete sense... BUt then here is my question:
Why can we find Prize/Redemption cards of all 30 players? (One seller has the complete sets on ebay)... Presumably, not every player DID win, so there should not be Prize/Redemption of all players... Did Upper Deck print them all anyway, in case the players won? ANd if so, did these cards get out later?

ALso, regarding what you mention about series 1 vs Series 2, I have the exact same card (Series2) in both versions (Silver and SilverHolofoil and Gold and GoldSparkle

I think you need a former employee of Upper Deck for answering all of your questions ;)

My thoughts: there may be two different redemptions cards for silver and gold (silver/silver holofoil and gold/gold sparkle) because there also exist two game cards. So it could be, that the silver one is the redemption for the first date and the silver holofoil was redeemed for the second date card. So if you have a player who has won both dates, you received two different redemption cards...

Regarding the cards of the loser players > there is also a possibility to get the redemption cards without buying packs. US/Canadian residents were able to send postcards to win Redemption cards. Please check the marks on the pic:

Maybe there was another way for them to hit the market. There is also a part in the sweepstakes, where a Exchange Set is mentioned...

Interesting theory, might be. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Yes we need an upper deck employee. Hahahah
